The Safari Store is a UK-based company with its heart in the world’s wide-open spaces. Once a safari guide and, later, working for a London tour operator, The Safari Store’s founder Steve Adams created The Safari Store to provide high-end, specialised outdoor apparel to give safari-goers and outdoor enthusiasts the best experiences during their precious outdoor adventures – from exploring local natural attractions to exotic African safaris and adventure travels.

Every item available from The Safari Store has been expedition-tested under extreme African conditions to ensure you are purchasing high-quality items we can vouch for off the back of real experience. Our products’ suitability to Africa makes them perfectly adapted to myriad outdoor activities – tested and trusted to be the best for the outdoors. When the fabrics we were developing weren’t up to scratch, we abandoned and re-developed them, took them back into Africa, and subsequently had them independently-tested. If straps of a bag don’t sit comfortably on a long walking safari, the design is changed until it’s perfected. These steps are part of our assurance in providing only the best – because your best experience of Africa and the outdoors is at the core of what we do. Claire, our writer - and Steve's partner in adventure - stand-up paddling a small inflatable boat on the upper Kafue river close to Chimfunshi. Claire is willingly roped into some rather mad-hatter product-test expeditions - here doing a recce for the expedition which turned into the Three Rivers Expedition. Claire is testing the Women's Serengeti Safari Hat, the Mara&Meru Laced Tank Safari Top. Unseen on her skin is Bushman Ultra Insect Repellent, which was extensively tested in Zambia through the rains. As someone who attracts all sorts of flying and biting things Claire is pretty well placed to assist in making sure that our repellents are the best.
